Ethiopian Ministry of Health has been investing immensely on the massive production of health professionals along with the expansion of higher educational institutions because these institutions are believed to supply the highly-needed human resources to the society. They are, by and large, the sources of health service advancement and economic growth of the country. With this intention, Debre Birhan Health Science College was established by the Amhara Regional Health Bureau as one of the Five Health Science colleges in the region since then commenced teaching and learning processes. Currently, the college is offering training for more than eight different fields of study.

In order to achieve its goal, the college is structured under two major wings: Academic vice Dean Office and Administration and Development vice Dean Office, the Academic sector strives to realize the effective teaching learning core process through four departments whereas the Administration and Development wing consists of procurement, finance and property administration supporting  process unit, General Service unit, Human resource and planning case team, internal auditing unit and Customer Handling  and  Complain solving unit in which all the units accompanies about 40 supporting staffs.

Through these units, the Administration and Development vice Dean Office is exerting its maximum effort to contribute to the achievement of the main mission and vision of the College. The office is responsible for empowering and mobilizing human resources, managing the finance and procurement systems and monitoring the proper utilization and management of material resources. The office also manages conditions with regard to their health, transportation and the financial issues during practical teaching areas. Further, the office facilitates the provision and maintenance of various infrastructures, plan and manage the college beautification with the limited compound and maintain the college security issue. Other than this, the Administration and Development vice Dean Office is making working to generate resources and develop the college income.

Administrative and development office has a long journey to travel in terms of expanding infrastructure, providing learning resources and facilities, and enhancing staff development and leadership commitment scenarios in order to achieve its goal to the maximum level.
