Debre Berhan Health Science College Department of midwifery was established in Tir 2009E.C. (January 2017 G.C.) with an enrolment of students for Diploma level training program, but before that time the midwifery department was included in nursing department for 8 years and graduated total 415 students. At present, Midwifery Department is running 47 first year ,44 second year and 49 level IV third year midwifery students Whereby continued its contribution in addressing the human resource development need of the country and to participate for the transformation agenda of reduce maternal and neonatal mortality in the country .
Regarding Staff profile, there is 2 female and 4 male BSC midwifery assistance lecture those are participate in community service and research proposal rather than teaching process.
As midwifery is a practice-oriented profession students become competent through team training, and hospital based practice in different settings by ongoing integration of theory and practice followed by an internship or professional practice.
